I was cut to swim but not to fly ! Being a beautiful bird was not enough as my wings measured only 15cm long and were way too small to make me fly.

Where did the great auk live ?
I could generally be found in Canada, Greenland, northern Norway… But I went sometimes as south as northern Spain !
Why did the great auk disappear ?
I have been hunted by men for 100 000 years, but everything sped up in the 16th century. They then tracked me for my meat, for my eggs, my feathers, my skin, and even to transform me as fishing baits.
