Ultramarine lorikeet’s description
With my turquoise blue feathering, I am considered as one of the most beautiful loris in the world. The edge of my tongue looks like a brush and allows me to easily harvest the flowers’ pollens and nectar on which I feed.

Where do I live ?
I only live in the Marquesas islands (French Polynesia), in the middle of the Pacific ocean.
Which threats ?
I’ve almost been exterminated by the black rat, a specie that has been incidentally introduced in my archipelago by european settlers. On Ua Pou island, for example, my entire population has been eradicated between 1980 and 1998, about 600 birds.
Kiwiwho’s word to save the ultramarine lorikeet
I only survive on the Ua Huka island, the dryest island of the archipelago. My situation there is very precarious : If the black rats on the surrounding islands manage to set foot on Ua Huka, they will probably succeed in eliminating my whole population in less than 20 years.
